As we enter this season of hustle and bustle, we want to offer you a word of encouragement. Don’t forget to take some time to be thankful for what God has given you this year. Make some plans to spend time with your friends and family. Don’t let the stress of gift shopping and wrapping up the year overshadow the joy of Christmas! We are glad that we got to share this year with you, and we look forward to what God will do in both your life and ours as we celebrate Christmas and begin a new year!
Sometimes Stacy and I get to the other side of Christmas and ask ourselves “Did we really honor and celebrate Jesus or did He get lost in the busyness of holiday celebrations?” Here are some ways we try to keep Christ in front of Christmas:
- I try to initiate a conversations with Stacy and the kids to talk about how our family can have a Kingdom Christmas. And then don’t just talk, do!
- Stacy and I always let the kids open one gift on Christmas Eve before bed and it is always a tool for personal spiritual growth; A new Bible, a special book, a book of devotions for their age or interest.
- We always read the Christmas story from Luke 2 either on Christmas Eve or Christmas day.
- We haven’t always been great about serving others consistently, that’s something we want to do better this year!
