Many groups of men across our region, state and indeed the country are finishing up with The Quest for Authentic Manhood. The final session is titled, A Man and His Life Journey. After watching the video this morning. One of the guys in my small group said that he was struck by how intentional you have to be to live out authentic, Biblical manhood. You just can’t be passive.
I agree. But I’ve been processing this thought throughout the day, and I think we have to do more. We have to summon the courage to move from Good intentions to solid execution. We’ve all heard that there are plenty of roads to nowhere paved with good intentions!
So guys, here’s a challenge for us all. Take a moment to ask what are some things that I’ve been intending to do? Make a short list, even a mental one. Now, evaluate, how will you move from good intentions to execution?
I can answer your question. You won’t: without men in your life. As long as you and I function as lone rangers we’ll keep doing what we’ve always done. We need other men (not a wife or a mother but other Godly men) in our lives who will ask tough questions, encourage us and cheer for us. In other words, you and I need to be sharpened by other men.
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17
