Honor Your Father

Father’s Day is June 19th! One of the most interesting things to learn from a man is how his relationship with his father affects his life. The truth is, whether your father is alive or dead, absent or present, near or far, he casts a shadow.

For some men, Dad’s shadow is dark and foreboding; and many of those men are working hard to create a new legacy for their children. For others, Dad’s shadow is delightful and satisfying; those men want to sustain a strong legacy. For most though, it’s a mixed bag. Regardless of your memories, God’s command to each of us is simple.… Honor your father (and mother)… that your days may be long in the land that the Lord Your God is giving you.

Noble Warriors is part of the Fatherhood CoMission and each year they sponsor an Honor Your Father Campaign. I’m thankful that we can be part of this initiative and I encourage you to check out some of the great ideas for both churches and individuals at www.honoryourfathertoday.com. And be on the lookout for a special blog post about my dad.

Let’s pray together that this Father’s Day will be a time of celebration and/or healing as we remember the impact our dads have on our lives.
