Pornography and the Church

The issue of pornography in the church is real and it is not going away. Recently I fielded three requests from church leaders who wanted resources for men struggling with porn addiction. Interestingly, two of the requests were for teenagers.

Research shows that 60% of men in the church are addicted to pornography. Even more startling, additional research shows that within the church 7 out of 10 lay leaders and 5 out of 10 pastors admitted to visiting adult websites in the last week. It is clear that men in the church are being sucked under by the incredibly efficient and effective tools of the enemy.

Noble Warriors is committed to engaging in this battle and equipping the church to provide men with resources necessary to live God honoring lives. It is not going to be easy, but it is a battle worth fighting. If you were to ask for the name of a church that’s really doing well in this area, I wouldn’t know where to point you. In fact, I am not confident that many churches are engaged in this battle at all.

What does it look like for the local church to begin to open its eyes to pornography in the church?

1. Start by talking about the realities of porn with their men.

2. Initiate short term small groups that focus on truth and accountability.

3. Develop a strategic plan to engage this issue long term.

4. Prayerfully seek a strategy to help men, as well as a growing number of women, live in purity.

Here are a few of the books, resources and counseling services to look into as you prepare to engage this battle:
